Pajaro Sunrise tiene nuevo disco, “The Future Is Not What It Used To Be”, y eso es una muy buena noticia. Una maravillosa colección de canciones que capturan, casi sin querer, la complejidad de la vida moderna.
Desde su último álbum, Man Of Many Faces, los días de Yuri Méndez han estado ocupados en cinco mudanzas, una pandemia, diversas bandas sonoras y el lanzamiento sorpresivo de tres singles en castellano. Y a pesar de —o gracias a— las muchas cajas sin abrir, el trabajo de estudio, las emergencias globales y un número innecesariamente grande de habitaciones distintas, de esos años convulsos surgió un disco luminoso que habla con lucidez del paso del tiempo, de las expectativas truncadas que anuncian liberaciones y de envejecer no como un drama, sino como el largo proceso de “aprender a no preocuparse y a amar la bomba”.
El primer single del álbum es ‘Devotion’, un pegadizo tributo al amor incondicional y al optimismo desenfrenado que transporta al oyente a un mundo en el que la vida es más sencilla y el amor reina por encima de todo.

Pajaro Sunrise has a new album and that is very good news. “The Future Is Not What It Used To Be” presents a wonderful collection of songs that capture, almost unintentionally, the complexity of modern life.
Since his last album, “Man Of Many Faces”(2019), Yuri Méndez’s days have been busy with five moves, a pandemic, several soundtracks and the surprise release of three singles in Spanish. And despite – or thanks to – the many unopened boxes, studio work, global emergencies and an unnecessarily large number of different rooms, out of those convulsive years emerged a luminous album that speaks lucidly of the passage of time, of truncated expectations that herald liberations and of growing old not as a drama, but as the long process of “learning not to worry and to love the bomb”.
The first single taken from the album is ‘Devotion’, an infectious tribute to unwavering love and unbridled optimism which effortlessly transports listeners to a world where life is simpler, and love reigns supreme.
